Microsoft to drop Internet Explorer 6!
- Published January 22nd, 2008 in Personal, Upfront News
These are exhilarating news to any web developer/designer around the world! Microsoft is to officially replace IE6 with IE7 by the means of a mandatory update that will be pushed in around February.
Now, IE7 still has its quirks but it’s definitely superior to IE6. Can you imagine not having to waste endless hours screwing with your CSS, fine-tuning the dirty hacks? Can you imagine being able to correctly use paddings and margins?
The success of the complete annihilation of IE6 is in the hands of the people and the companies, that might resile from pushing the update through. There are still plenty of intranets depending solely on IE6. Shame on them!
P.S. - Of course, even better would be replacing IE6 with Firefox, but we can’t have everything at once, right?
