My take on Apple TV 2
- Published January 16th, 2008 in Tech Comment, Apple
After the rampant news about the Macworld 2008 keynote I forgot to give my insight on Apple TV: Take 2.
Well, it’s still missing a DVR and a DVD player. Steve, we want a DVR and a DVD player. I know, your thoughts are “Well, that would invite people to rent from Netflix or to pay for HDTV content instead of renting from iTunes”. True. And false. That would also boost the sales of the Apple TV. I’d probably buy one as I could use my 24″ iMac as a TV (Pinnacle TV for Mac costs about half of the Apple TV)! And whenever renting movies from the internet becomes mainstream (as in, broadband gets even broader) then you would have a huge amount of people with an Apple set top box ready to unleash the true power of online movie renting.
P.S. - This whole conversation about Apple reminds me of some guys that would probably say that I don’t truly like Apple because I’ve criticized them or because I use products from the competition. Oh boy…
