Another flyin’ chair from Redmond!

Google has recently joined the Open Invention Network, a group responsible for avoiding things like the 200+ patents infringement claims done by Microsoft in regards to the Linux kernel. Not to avoid the claims but to stand against them if taken to court.

Based on this, Don Raisinger wrote a very interesting piece analyzing Microsoft’s position and where it stands in the middle of Linux and Google.

Raisinger is talking about the future, but the chairs are flying since a long time now. Microsoft is deeply afraid of not only Google, Linux and Apple but how IT is evolving. Native applications are being replaced by websites and there’s one king holding the crown on that space: Google. On the other side, people are looking forward to the full blown experience of owning a “fridge” instead of a computer constantly having problems. Besides, who doesn’t like a beautiful piece of design? Apple is changing the concept of computer to a whole new level. Add to top of this the fact that the mobile phones are the new platform of the future and Windows Mobile is an handicapped and deaf approach to it.

“As hard to believe as it is, Microsoft is running scared. Courtesy of Google.”
