I like Fridays and I like Sundays. Fridays are a good day to relax. Sundays are the day before resuming work (provided I didn’t work on weekends which is clearly not true — but hey, I love working).

This Friday was interesting. First, I went to Best Buy to buy 2×1GB SODIMMS for my MacBook. Corsair is selling them at approx. $100 USD but at Best Buy they were being sold at $200 ($100 each). I wanted to buy at Best Buy since I had a gift card worth of 50 bucks (after buying something worth of $40!) so I approached one of the guys there and said I had seen it cheaper elsewhere. He said “Where? We’ll price match it”. I said Corsair’s website but he said they don’t price match the manufacturers’ website price. And then I said: Frys. He checked Frys, saw it was being sold for $49.99, picked two, talked to the manager and in 5 minutes I was done. They just earned my fidelity.

The day wasn’t over though. I went to Taco Bell for the first time ever (which makes my second time at a fast food restaurant since I came to USA). I’ve never been a fan of Mexican food but since most of SAP’s cookers are mexicans, we sometimes are presented with some typical mexican dishes. And I love burritos!! So I decided to try one from Taco Bell (and also to try to understand where all the commotion around Taco Bell comes from) and I loved it. For those who don’t know, it’s basically rice, beans, lettuce, tomatoes, three types of cheese, chicken/steak and three dressings, usually sour sauce, red sauce and something greenish that I’m yet to figure out what it is (it’s said to lower the cholesterol though) rolled on a very thin layer of flour tortilla (more details at the usual suspect, Wikipedia).

In the meanwhile, worth to mention that I’m reading the book Don’t Make Me Think. I know, it’s kind of old (first published in 2000) but my interest in Usability is quite recent too.

It’s not a hearth-shattering book in the sense of containing something revolutionary (it’s all hidden common sense actually) but if you’re reading it’s already a good thing — it means you concern about Usability. Oh, but I find it very interesting that Steve Krug has a short-memory problem which quite leverages his work.

Finally, Wall Street Journal is reporting to be extremely improbable Microsoft to acquire Yahoo! Personally, I truly hope the negotiations do not go through for the sake of a balanced market.

Tomorrow I’ll be going to a berry harvest farm to fill a basket with strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and everything ending in -berry. I’ll take a photo of the basket :-)
