Mac OS Forge

Straight to my mail inbox came a news from ADC (Apple Developer Connection) announcing the new website Apple is launching. As the title of this post suggests, it’s related to software, Mac OS X and considering the similarities with Sourceforge, it has also something to do with Free Software.
If you think it is an initiative to support Free Software you just became 0.02 cents richer. That’s it. Mac OS Forge will support Free/Open Source Software projects from anyone. But what’s really interesting being the fact that Apple is including their own pieces of Mac OS X like the launch daemon. Moreover, it also focuses on new unpublicited projects like iCal server.
Is Apple finally becoming a true proponent of Free Software? I’d glady say yes but I’m still uncertain. Nevertheless, it’s a great initiative and worth mentioning it. It shows that companies can no more disdain the Free/Open Source Software revolution.
Good move Apple. You’ve won some more friends…

Uh ?
