Precisely my opinion. I was going to rant about it until I saw that.
Some raw numbers: it took me almost half an hour to update Ruby on Rails to 1.1 on Mac OS X 10.5.6. It took 2 minutes to update on Ubuntu.
So, yes, Mac OS X definitely needs apt-get alike (I’m not talking about old ports like Fink or DarwinPorts… keep it real!)

Heh, I’m the poster of that blog.. you might like to know that I’ve just dumped OS X entirely for Debian for these reasons. It works well on my PB G4 and well, it’s proper free software, not this faux openness that APPL claim.
