More 12.000 Linux desktops

Another huge migration is taking place in Germany. The tax authority in Lower Saxony, Germany, is due to migrate its current userbase of 12.000 desktop computers powered by Solaris 8 to SuSE Linux and KDE.
Here’s some quoting reinforcing Germany’s commitment with Free Open Source Software.
“A number of German cities are using, or planning to use, open source software, including Schwäbisch Hall, Mannheim, Treuchtlingen, Leonberg and Isernhagen. Schwäbisch Hall switched to Linux on more than 400 workstations and Mannheim plans to deploy Linux on 110 servers and 3,700 desktops.”
Congratulations Germany for embracing FOSS!

A great win for suse but, since Solaris too is Opensource, It isn’t such a win for FOSS
Well Jaime, there are two branches of Solaris as you so well know :-) The one we’re talking about was Solaris 8 which is closed source.
Nevertheless, I’d be happy as well if they just sticked with OpenSolaris. What really matters to me is the widespread of FOSS (and GNU/Linux as well, but I privilege the former!)
Changing Subjects, why does your blog says I’m using firefox on Windows???
That was strange. Now, I’m in fact using Windows but, when I did my last comment, I was on BSD ?!?!?!?!
Well, I don’t have a clue. It must be the plugin’s fault or your browser is identifying itself as another one.
