Yahoo bought del.icio.us!

Yahoo bought del.icio.us, the social bookmarks system, but Google could have done it before. This was a major breakthrough on the internet that disseminated the idea of tagging pages and content as it allows you to share bookmarks along your browsers and with your friends.

I hope they keep the service free of charge.

Update

While reading Planeta* I noticed that some people aren’t familiar with del.icio.us yet so I believe this would be a nice opportunity to talk about it.

del.icio.us allows you to save bookmarks on their database, tag them (same as folding.. well, almost) and then share them. Combining this with Foxylicious you’ll summon a powerful combination. Foxylicious connects to your del.icio.us account and synchronizes your bookmarks. It also adds an option to the contextual menu allowing to bookmark more sites.

The only drawback, which isn’t a drawback at all, is that you need to have Firefox (on any platform available) along with Foxylicious — which also works on any platform available :-)
