10 things (and counting) that make Ubuntu a success
- Published November 28th, 2005 in Free Software, Ubuntu
Here are 10 things that usually drive people to embrace Ubuntu instead of other GNU/Linux distributions.
As for me, these are the reasons why I dropped SuSE, Red Hat and Debian:
- Ubuntu has
apt-get. That’s thousands of applications that are easily managed by a single command or by a GUI if you’re into it. - Ubuntu has a wonderful community where everyone likes to help. Everyone’s nice and available.
- Ubuntu’s rock-solid Debian-based. Besides having
apt-get, Ubuntu has the stability of its ancestry, Debian - There are thousands of places to look for help. Forums, IRC, wikis, blogs, it’s endless
- It’s fast
If you were thinking about giving a try to Ubuntu here’s your chance. You won’t regret.
