PowerMac Dual Core 2.3Ghz Review

Here’s a review of the new PowerMac featuring a dual core G5/PPC 2.3Ghz. The author puts it to test along with an AMD Ahtlon 64 X2 that is also dual core. One of the first comments about the two machines was that the PowerMac makes much more noise than the Athlon X2.

But what really deserved my attention was this:

Noise is a 6th order function of air velocity, so making a fan twice as big but half as fast can result in a huge decrease in noise

I didn’t have any clue about this. It would be nice to have a Physics class that covered these topics instead of others completely useless that we have on my course.
